Hundreds of Colombians dare to take on furious bulls every year in corraleja, not-so-traditional bullfighting.

In these Roman-circus-like bullfights, the bulls are released into a vast, throbbing arena, to be faced down by a squadron of horsemen armed with long pikes.

Compared with the bullfights in Mexico City, where bulls have names like "Jalapeno," "Guajillo" or "Habanero," or in Spain, where they are killed at the end of the festival, the bulls in the Colombian corralejas are simply beasts that will live to see another day and another corraleja.
